Ingrid Betancourt
I don't think there is any woman I admire more than Ingrid Betancourt who has now been a hostage for 4 years.

I read in the paper today that FARC is holding around 1500 people hostage like Betancourt at the moment.
Jonathan, You're right. I originally tried to include a banner that reminded people of the other hostages in Colombia too, but for some reason I couldn't copy it. I should also have said, of course, that I admire Ingrid Betancourt not simply because she is a hostage but because of the courageous work she carried out before being kidnapped.
I was glad to read about what she did before being kidnapped.
Women like her make me feel guilt for moaning about my privileged life - thanks for posting this and reminding me of my privileges.
I admired they way her young daughter spoke to the press the other night. She was calm and rational, yet she hasn't seen her mum in four years! God, is Ingrid even alive still?
